Spring... at last...

'Yesterday I arrived in Pyatigorsk. I have engaged lodgings at the extreme end of the town, the highest part, at the foot of Mount Mashuk: during a storm the clouds will descend on to the roof of my dwelling. This morning at five o'clock, when I opened my window, my room was filled with the fragrance of the flowers growing in the modest front garden. Branches of bloom laden cherry trees peep in at my window, and now and again the breeze bestrews my desk with their white petals.'

Tea with Mr Lobster

Not sure how many sugars a lobster takes, or if a hawk prefers cream or milk, but I love everything about this tea party... She's even wearing the perfect clothes.

Happy Cakes

It's very lovely that the Wolf Princess has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2013. It really has been such a short time since we ate cake (pictured) to celebrate the publication. Thank you Chicken House... and thank you Waterstones for including me on the shortlist. (And of course, best of luck to all the nominees in all the categories... it's an enticing list).
